Working Together
My style as a therapist is warm, collaborative, and authentic. I strive to create an environment in which you feel free to speak openly about yourself and the concerns that bring you to therapy. In working together, we’ll wade into what hurts, haunts, or feels broken. I will help you to understand the layers of your experience within the context of your unique identity and lived history, addressing the obstacles that constrain you. Ultimately, this process offers the potential for movement around what’s stuck. Through it, comes an experience of greater emotional freedom and fulfillment.
My Approach
Education & Training
I graduated from the Wright Institute with a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (Psy.D.) and a clinical focus in Psychodynamic Theory and Technique. I have trained in various mental health settings throughout the Bay Area, including WestCoast Children’s Clinic, RAMS Inc., Acknowledge Alliance, Wright Institute Clinical Services, and as a post-doctoral associate in private practice in Oakland and Marin. In addition to my private practice, I supervise doctoral students at the Wright Institute.
Practice Information & Policies
Sessions & Fee
Individual therapy sessions typically occur weekly at an agreed upon time. My fee is comparable to other licensed professionals in the area. Please contact me to discuss my current fee.
Phone Consultation
The first step to learning if we would be a good fit is for us to speak on the phone for a 15-20 minute consultation. Please contact me to set up a time to talk.
Beginning Therapy
Following our initial conversation, I offer the first several sessions as a mutual assessment period. This provides an opportunity for you to experience my therapeutic approach. It also allows for a collaborative process to clarify your reasons for seeking therapy and to determine our fit. If during the course of these initial sessions we determine that an alternative therapeutic approach or a specialized referral would better suit your needs, I will support you in finding referrals and recommendations based on the insights gained from our time together.
Accepted Insurance
I am in-network with Aetna. Please notify me if you have Aetna insurance prior to our first meeting.
Out-of-Network Insurance Reimbursement
For all other insurance plans, I am considered an “out-of-network” provider, and can provide you with a statement of services (a “superbill”) for you to submit for reimbursement to your insurance company. To find out if your insurance company will provide you with full or partial reimbursement for therapy with an out-of-network provider, you can call the customer service number on the back of your insurance card and ask about their policy regarding out-of-network mental health services.
Cancellation Policy
Please let me know at least 48 hours in advance if you are unable to attend a session. If less than 48 hours notice is given, the full session fee will be charged for the time reserved.
Good Faith Estimate
If we begin working together and you are not using insurance, you have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” of what your services may cost. I will provide you with this as a part of your initial paperwork. For more information, please visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.
